PB230 PENNINE BRIDLEWAY TRAIL CHALLENGE
Edale to Kirkby Stephen
230km (143 miles) in 75 hours
New Day 1 course for the 5th edition in 2026.

Maximum 30 Entries
Quality and excellent value, scenic trail running adventure, uncrowded trail, venues and hospitality, generous cut-offs, all at a financially accessible price. Ranger Ultras PB230 – celebrating achievement from first to last in – multi-day trail running as it should be.

THE PB230: A Grand trail running / fastpacking advenutre of the Pennine uplands and Pennine Bridleway National Trail. All the way from Edale in the south Peak District to it’s northern extent in Kirkby Stephen. We’ve given generous time allowances to make the race a sporting opportunity for trail runners of all abilities, from slow & steady to those keen to step onto the podium. We’ve got indoor checkpoints offering hot food, some with bunkbeds, some with sleeping space and on-course safety team. Within the race infrastructure, we’re also keen that you enjoy developing your personal race strategy, have a superb adventure and sense of connection to the wonderfully diverse landscapes along this national trail

THE PB STORY: For the past few years we’ve been organising our Ranger Ultras series of races, many of which utilise sections of the Pennine Bridleway. During this time many of you have told us how much you enjoy our low-key, low environmental impact style of events. This, along with our trail fee contributions, has helped National Trails and the Peak District National Park with ongoing trail maintenance costs. For the past 5 years we have earned the National Trails Supporter’ badge. We were the first trail running events organisation that was awarded to.

Our meticulous safety planning and attention to detail has already helped other race events grow to international success. So, we thought, lets join things up and offer a cracker of a trail race.

NEW ELEMENTS FOR 2026: For the 6th year we’ve given the course a Spring referesh: Keeping the iconic upland sections. And replacing a couple of lowland sections with top quality trails with an even more straightforward route through amazing scenery. The overall route has been shortened: One less weekday, further enhancing the practical and financial accessibility of the PB230 Trail Challenge. 230km from the start in Edale all the way to Kirkby Stephen, has a 75 hour time limit, to make it a very achievable, challenge for every ultra runner. A great multi-day race, in less than a week.

Our current Ranger Ultras races offer a progression of ultra and trail running experience, for your build up to the PB230. As well as mini-recce opportunities on the Pennine Bridleway.  From our 18 and 55km Trail Time Trials on the Pennine Bridleway. To tough, long day races like the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Ultra.  The High Peak 100km Cromford to Whaley Bridge ultra. And our Peak District South & North two day stage race.

The Pennine Bridleway Trail Challenge is a superb, fresh adventure over inspiring fells and moors.

Up to 75 hours journeying in the Pennine uplands for steady, ‘going for the finish’, trail enthusiasts as well as elite athletes.
